About this role

We’re hiring a Patient Engagement Director for a highly successful research organization to support Toronto, ON.

The Director, Patient Engagement Innovation is responsible for recruitment and retention strategies of subjects in all research studies. They will work with the Site Leads/Managers and the Recruitment Team to meet enrollment targets and applicable objectives. Responsible for direct contact and communication with internal staff and physicians, patients, study monitors, Sponsors, CRO’s and research industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the overall strategy for the Patient Experience framework, covering the entire patient journey from interest to randomization to end of study;
  • Develop breakthrough initiatives through the use of insights (ie. patient surveys, employee & physician feedback) to create an innovative Patient Experience environment;
  • Identify, develop and execute strategic plans to achieve enrollment targets and expand patient database; relentlessly drive the opportunities to closure;
  • To identify new business opportunities for generating new leads to build portfolio of patients as a source for current and future projects ie. Healthimi Marketing;
  • Lead budget planning process and ensure reimbursements are reconciled quarterly; ensure financial auditing processes are adhered to by team; monitor funds allocated to marketing budget;
  • Lead and oversee team through development and execution of tactical marketing plans and programs to support recruitment and revenue objectives; Recommend plans and conduct post-mortems on all marketing campaigns;
  • Manage negotiations for all major contracts and agreements with recruitment & marketing vendors;
  • Identify, develop and execute strategic plans to achieve enrollment targets and expand patient database; relentlessly drive the opportunities to closure;
  • Provide appropriate metrics and maintain recruitment related communication with Sponsors / CRO’s;
  • Oversee recruitment related tasks, i.e. query review, chart screening, ad caller metrics, database management;
  • Attend biweekly research management check ins to communicate recruitment strategies and strategize effective ways to overcome barriers/obstacles at the sites;
  • Understand the range of services provided across the organization and lead recruitment initiatives to increase potential new business opportunities;
  • Create, retain and grow a portfolio of strategic networking partnerships with the local healthcare community and within the community at large: build a qualified lead database;
  • To assist with Orientation & CRC Training curriculum in regards to effective enrollment;
  • To mentor CRCs to ensure effective recruitment and retention ie. job shadowing/1:1’s;
  • Collaborate and identify business strategic deliverables with management and support execution of goals and objectives related to same;
  • Represent the organization as a leader in recruitment in a professional and strategic manner;
  • Deliver presentations, develop relationships and positively promote all programs and opportunities provided by the organization to participants communities, organizations, influencers, government and employers;
  • To assist President, Research for duties related to strategic initiatives;
  • To be willing to travel and support all research sites as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science Degree or equivalent;
  • Project Management certification or MBA, an asset;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ of progress experience in clinical research with a minimum of 3 years in patient recruitment;
  • Minimum of 2 year supervisory experience of a diverse group of professionals;
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo creating positive change;
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Outlook);
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi task, strong organizational skills and strong interpersonal skills.
